Dr. Anne Anderson’s Cree: 12 Basic Lessons, 1975
Dr. Anne Anderson was a beloved and well known Cree language educator and author in Alberta. Her mother instilled pride in Anne about the Cree language and culture. She carried this throughout her life in her efforts to teach others. She founded the Cree Productions Learning Centre in 1974 and opened the Native Heritage and Cultural Centre in 1984. During her lifetime she won many awards for her decades of work preserving Cree culture and language. She passed away at the age of 91 in 1997. She authored an extensive dictionary titled Metis Cree Dictionary which she wrote in 1975 and did a series of recordings and lessons in the same year. These recordings available here were digitized from cassette tape, so at times the recordings reflect the raw condition of the tape. The recordings were accompanied by self-published lesson plan titled Cree: 12 Basic Lessons which is no longer in print.
